What's more festive than glitter for the holiday season? I must admit I've never been much of a glitter girl but now I am reconsidering. When used sparingly and combined with something not as sparkly it does have a certain feminine allure, which is exactly what Miuccia Prada did for the Fall 2011 Miu Miu collection. Especially the beautiful glitter booties have been making the rounds. That's my kind of glitter.
Anyway, if you like me would like a little sparkle in your life but are not ready to go full on glitter here is a how-to single glitter nail step-by-step.
1. Apply one coat of Essie Grow Stronger base coat (any base coat will do, I just happen to like Essie's)
2. Apply two or three layers of Essie Poppy Art Pink (this is a perfect everyday baby pink, I love it)
3. To the nail of your choice apply two or three layers of Deborah Lippmann's Stairway to Heaven
4. Apply one coat of Essie No Chips Ahead top coat (or the top coat of your choice)
5. Done! Dress! Heals! Clutch! Taxi! Party!
Of course, if you are more for all in dazzle you can do all your nails with glitter. I think that the combination above turned out very pretty, but you can use any glitter/pink combos and achieve something similar. I chose Deborah Lippmann's Stairway to Heaven polish because it has big flakes of glitter, which I thinks makes the result look more elegant, as opposed to most glitter polishes that usually have tiny sparkles.
