Simply Lovely: Charlotte Trounce

I've found a new favorite illustrator. I was browsing a little aimlessly for illustrators for a new project at work and Brit Charlotte Trounce popped up. This is one of the big perks of my job, being able to spend time looking and searching the web for beautiful things. It certainly keeps me inspired. Charlotte Trounce's illustrations remind me of my childhood love for Quentin Blake's illustrations in Ronald Dahl's books, but maybe a little more grown up.

How To: Beautiful Gold Leaf Notebooks

Whitney over at eatsleepcuddle (a new favorite blog! check it out) has come up with a beautiful way to personalize your notebooks. Are you like me and constantly on the hunt for pretty notebooks and pads to keep thoughts and ideas in? After finishing my MSc I just can't stand those generic ruled or grid ones. I crave a pretty cover and lots of unconfined white space to fill with doodles.

Heart Made

I love that creativity is everywhere - that people take charge of their passions and realize their dreams and that dreams that start small grow and turn into real businesses. Take Mary & Matt, they started making chocolate in their kitchen for their friends and the enterprise quickly grew and now they've got a full line of chocolate varieties. I found them on Third Drawer Down, a site full of creativity, where I also got our Accept the Good screen print, which makes me smile every day. Also, isn't the packaging perfection? Do you remember making marble paper when you where little? And those Chocolate Googly Eyes, wouldn't they make the best gift?

I hope you're all having a lovely Thursday! I'm trying to beat off the last of my cold, but I bet dinner at my good friend Hanna's place tonight will be just the cure. She and I and three other girlfriends have a dinner club since five years back. I love our sticktoitiveness, something that's needed when starting a business too, but most of all I love meeting them all and having a chance to catch up and gossip. See you soon girls!

Sight Unseen

Statement jewllery has been around for a while now and doesn't seem to be going anywhere, which makes me glad. A great necklace can make any ol' outfit stand out. I happened upon these lovely pieces quite by chance. They are one-of-a-kind made by artists and designers for Sight Unseen. I must say that I am amazed every day by all the creativity and skills I find manifested in blogs and within different online communities.

Friday Wishlist: Forget Me Not

Since I first found them in New York a couple of years ago I've loved Forget-me-not's scarves. The label is headed by French illustrator and art director Coco Brun and the scarves all bear her breathtaking illustrations.

I think the reason I like them is because they remind me of the fantastic fairytales I read as a child, Narnia, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland in particular. Faraway places, kings, queens, real and fantasy animals and creatures, even clocks all have their place in Forget-me-not's scarves.

Supafrank Love

I just had to share these fantastic prints and soon-to-be stools by Supafrank. Another pair of creative and genius girls, Katie Steel and Vicki Turner, run Supafrank. They started out designing prints and mugs and are now venturing into furniture.

Isn't the name Supafrank great? To me it sounds like the name of a laid-back really funny superhero from a Pixar movie (think Toy Story 1,2 and 3 that I love), which I think is just what Steel and Turner's work is all about - great design with just the right amount of irreverence.

All the World's a Page

Isn't this the coolest? The devil is in the details takes on a complete new meaning when Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species is printed on a single page in 2.8pt. Even Darwin's tree showing divergence of species is included, stamp sized.

If Darwin is not your favorite you can always get Herman Melville's Moby Dick.

PS. I'm sorry about the lack of posts the last two days. My computer had a slight hick-up but is feeling much better now, thank you.

Maddict: Count Down to Season 5

I think self-initiated projects often generate fantastic work, it might be because of the lack of stirct briefs or clients with minds already made up on how a project will look in the end. Take these Mad Men season five posters by Radio for example, aren't they fantastic?

I hope someone at AMC sees and orders them as is.
