Martin Margiela, the notoriously shy designer of Maison Martin Margiela, has followed fashion houses like Moschino, Armani and Missoni among others and decorated a hotel. In my mind these ventures aren't always a hit but La Maison des Champs Élysées in central Paris looks like a hotel in the sky of blacks and whites, separated in different rooms like a perfect cloudless day versus a day of a great thunderstorm.
I have admired Margiela's paired down aesthetic for a long time and maybe it is even better suited to hotel decorating. Especially when traveling to a metropolis like Paris it would be relaxing to return to a monochrome hotel room after all the influences and impressions from long days of exhibitions, shopping and restaurants.
